Wholesale grower in the PNW for landscapers and garden centers
Heather, vines, ground covers, grasses and perennials
T&L Nursery, Inc. is located 30 miles east of Seattle, in the Sammamish Valley, between Redmond and Woodinville. For 30 years we have taken pride in producing quality plant material for Garden Centers and landscapers in the Pacific Northwest. Incorporated in 1986, and started with just a couple acres of developed land, we have grown into a production facility that covers over 40 acres of growing space. In addition to growing a wide selection of Heathers, Vines, Ground Covers and Perennials, we are dedicated to producing quality plants that stand the test of time. We also strive to provide the best service possible. We invite you to put us to the test and let us prove our commitment to quality and service.

    Getting to know us:
In 1981 Wolfgang Mueller came to Redmond, WA looking for property to start a nursery here in the US; he chose the 40 acre site we currently occupy. Although the beet farm was run down (with goats living in the basement of the existing farm house) Wolfgang saw a promising future. Beginning as a u-pick farm with several different kind of fruiting trees and vines it soon changed direction and in 1986 Tissues and Liners was born. Susanne Foster, one of the farm's first managers, brought with her from Germany the desire to build the business into a premier tissue and liner provider, and she built the first greenhouses on the property. Although we may not have become a tissues and liners nursery Susanne did begin our love of container grown plants by introducing grasses and clematis.

Several years later Josef and Rita Singendonk came from Germany to manage the nursery, bringing both the passion for heathers and quality German watering booms. Their dream for the company was to mass produce heathers that would be sent all over the US and they added on several more fields and greenhouses while doing the cuttings work in the basement of the farm house (no more goats allowed!) In 1994 Wolfgang was once more on the hunt for a General Manager. He contacted Professor Fritz Moellman, an old friend, to see if he had a recommendation. Fritz said that he had one former student working as an intern in OR that would be a strong manager. Wolfgang contacted Andrej Suske and in 1994 he joined Tissues and Liners. His mission was to grow the best container grown plants available and he understood that the name Tissues and Liners was no long applicable and so in 2000 we changed the name to T&L Nursery, Inc.

What once started as a u-pick farm has now grown into production facility that covers 40 acres of growing space including over 66 greenhouses and 18 open fields. During the high season we employ approximately 100 employees, a great many of whom have been with us for several years. In addition to growing a wide selection of heathers, vines, ground covers, ornamental grasses and perennials, we are dedicated to producing quality plants that will stand the test of time. We strive to provide the best service possible and invite you to put us to the test and let us prove our commitment to quality and service.

    boilers

Energy efficient heaters for the winter months

By separating the flame from the air inside the greenhouse, long life and the highest seasonal efficiency possible are assured. The heaters are designed for 82-83% thermal efficiency.

    double layer roof

Double plastic roofs on greenhouses for added insulation and energy savings.

By adding a second layer of poly to the roofs of our greenhouses, an insulating air layer is created that helps retain more heat in the winter.

    pond

Reclamation of run-off irrigation water in storage pond

All our fields and greenhouses are graded and drained so that any water runoff is drained into a storage pond. The water pond water is then recycled back into the nursery watering system for plants to use once again.
In addition, we are increasing our use of drip tape and other irrigation systems that help save water by watering more precisely.

    rain

Collection and use of rain water for plant propagation

Rain water from our propagation greenhouse roofs is collected and stored in two large tanks. The water is treated with hydrogen peroxide before being used to mist the crops in the propagation houses, keeping the cuttings moist and humid while they root out.
