Since 1960 when Greenthumb Nursery was “seeded” by James and Ruth Cagle, three generations of Cagle family members have been engaged in the nursery’s operations. James and Ruth’s son, Robert purchased the nursery in 1980 with two partners. Greenthumb Nursery’s lead designer, Doretha Ritter joined the company in 1986 and she is now the manager of the Landscaping & Lawn Maintenance division.

        

           

In 2010, Robert’s sons Kevin and Robby Cagle became the nursery’s owners. Second and third generation owners “grew” their experience by working within Greenthumb Nursery’s different divisions:

The 120-acre wholesale nursery and tree farm supplies retail nurseries, landscaping companies and garden centers in North Carolina, Virginia, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maryland and New York with high-quality, containerized and field-grown shrubs and trees. Greenthumb Nursery is able to ship to other states; please call if you’d like a delivery outside of this area. Sales are to the wholesale trade only.
