Amy Morris, Vice President & Chief Operating Officer at N.G. Heimos Greenhouses Inc.
With her father starting N.G. Heimos Greenhouses in 1951, Amy Morris was groomed into the horticulture industry since childhood. A graduate of Southeast Missouri University’s Agribusiness Horticulture program, Amy has been rooted in horticulture industry for 33 years. She has been the Head grower at Heimos Greenhouses growing annuals, perennials, blooming crops, holiday crops, and foliage. Responsibilities include understanding the hiring process, facilitating the H2A program, leadership training, and support to employees in all aspects of the business. Currently, she is the Vice President and COO of NG Heimos Greenhouses. In 2001 she opened Millstadt Young Plants rooting liners for Syngenta, Selecta, Dummen and Suntory. This company was created to keep their work force year-round. In 2007 we introduced North America’s largest Poinsettia Trial and Educational Workshop for growers, breeders and college horticulture students across the country. Amy is a member of OFA, PMA, SFA, WNLG and LuxFlora. She is a contributing writer for Growers Talk magazine under Growers Talk Business. One of her greatest accomplishments is receiving the Industry Leadership award in 2018 from Greenhouse Management, Nursery Management and sponsored by Syngenta. This award was voted on by industry peers who know her commitment to the Industry. She hopes to continue her path forward and hopes AmericanHort can be part of the journey.
Amy has been married to her Husband Craig for 30 years and has 2 children, Josh and Lauryn. Her hobbies consist of travel, golf, gardening, theater and bowling. She volunteers for local lawn and garden grower’s seminar and currently serves as president of Mehlbrook Manor Garden Club. She works with Annie’s Hope Bereavement Center, Camp Hope, and St Vincent DePaul 100 neediest families. She looks forward to the opportunity to serve as an advocate to collaborate, connect, and educate members and to keep the association and industry thriving.
N.G. Heimos Greenhouse / Millstadt Young Plants -- Efficient Producers of Horticultural Goods
The company was founded in 1951. N.G. Heimos Greenhouses now has facilities in Sunset Hills, Sappington Mo; Millstadt and New Athens IL. Sunset Hills primarily grows indoor blooming crops and Micky's Minis miniature plants. Millstadt is divided into: Heimos Greenhouses which grows seasonal crops for Spring, Fall, and Christmas. Millstadt Young Plants is a rooting station for Sygenta Flowers, and Yoder Brothers. Millstadt Gardens is the retail center.
