IlluminFx was formed in 2000 as a division of Unitrac Energy Management Company to manufacture water feature lighting systems that would provide builders and pond owners more of the benefits they were looking for, such as smaller, easier to hide fixtures; ease of installation and maintenance; no electricity or heat in the water; and more versatility.

IlluminFx now sells fiber optic units that apply to a variety of applications, using different types of fiber and mounting systems. The cornerstone of the IlluminFx line of pond lighting is the pre-manufactured fiber optic lighting kit that utilizes 25-strand, end-emitting fiber, and a choice of either a 250-watt halogen or a 150-watt metal halide illuminator. These kits come in 4-, 8-, 12- and 16-light configurations with standard cable lengths between 10 and 30 feet. Lengths can be customized up to 50 feet.
