Chatham Nurseries, Inc., was founded by the late Norris R. Johnson and the late Elizabeth Johnson Denmark in 1959. It was one of the first nurseries in the Southeast to grow plants and trees in containers. In January, 1995, Victoria Johnson Blocker and her husband, Tony, purchased the nursery, enabling the nursery to continue as a family owned business. As of 2008 Vickie and Tony's son Johnathan Blocker joined the business as production manager, making him the third generation to try his hand at the nursery business.



For 54 years, our nursery has grown to consist of over 20+ acres, grow 100+ varieties of trees, shrubs, and ground cover in containers that range in size from 1 to 45 gallons. At Chatham Nurseries, Inc., we grow over 90% of our plant material from the propagation stage to the mature stage. We do act as brokers for plants that we do not grow and we will order that hard to find plant from our reliable resources.
