Breezy Palms Growers
Mule Palm (XButiagrus).
Mule Palm (XButiagrus) - Hardy to about -10 °C (14 °F). Man made hybrid between the Butia palm and Queen palm. As one of the hardiest feather palms, It combines the cold hardy of the Butia palm with the fast growing, tropical fronds of the Queen palm. Mature specimens are rare. After established the Mule Palm is drought tolerant and cold tolerant. Many of them resemble coconut palms. We have 10 acres of palms available for purchase today.
We have been producing the hybrid since the year 2000. We have two locations, the first in East Orlando and the second in Polk county which is called "The Ranch." At the ranch, the Mules are watered with automatic irrigation and fertilized twice a year. While at our East Orlando location, the large specimens live on natural water cycles. Once established they are drought tolerant and cold tolerant and cold protection is not needed during the winter months.
